Two Steps Forward, One Step BackOn January 21, 2020 by Kari
Y’all I think this is our life moto! Two steps forward, one step back!
This weekend we had big plans for our weekend. We have made some improvements to our family that encourages more focusing on what truly matters to us. So when we have a work day it means we fill it up and try to accomplish as much as we can.
Monday’s are the hubby’s day off and our list of things to accomplished around our tiny house addition/remodel and homestead projects is always long. I was working hard on inside projects with the baby and the older kids were working outside with projects or helping their daddy. That’s when the trouble started!
The washer started backing up into the house and there was a huge water mess! So we both had to stop what we were doing and investigate. This lead to fixing the plumbing issue the rest of the day. It was a lot of work on both of us and soon as it was over we both were in desperate need of a shower. We felt grody!
While this was really frustrating and took our focus off what we wanted to get accomplished we had to be grateful that it happened when I wasn’t home alone with all the kids. When life gets hard there is always a silver lining in there. It’s not always easy is find but it’s always there.
I always try to focus on this. It doesn’t always happen because I get grumpy and frustrated at times but when I choose to look at the good in the bad situations life is always better. As I said above we have been living the two steps forward, one step back life for almost 4 years now. It’s tough at times but we know why we are doing it.
See we made the decision when we bought our property and to live tiny that we would do everything we could in cash. We didn’t want to have a huge mortgage that would hold us down. We want to take our kids on vacations, visit historical places, and give money to the local community to help those in need. We are finally starting to see an end in sight. We are getting close to having our house finished up, well in a year or so, which will free up money to do all these things. It’s getting quite exciting! The light at the end of the tunnel of struggle and sacrifice is finally showing through! Who doesn’t get excited seeing that even on a hard day that set us back another week?
Makes choices today that will set you up for the life you really want in life! Even if it looks impossible! Even if people don’t get it, stand strong! You will get to the light too!
